The Hickory Community Theatre, because of the extraordinary commitment of incredibly generous volunteers, donors, and patrons like you, is now in its 77th season. Last season, our annual fund drive brought in over 20 percent more than in season 75. It wasn’t just a financial success though, the total number of donors was also the highest ever.

The numbers tell only part of the story. At the heart of it all is our community’s deep commitment to live theatre. Thanks to the unstoppable spirit of these generous individuals, families, and foundations, our remarkable stage continues to thrive. Their support fuels every performance.

The result? Productions that are often bubbly, sometimes brash, occasionally brazen, and always beautiful.

This year, we invite you to join us in Crafting a Legacy by nurturing the next generation of theatrical designers, promoters, and organizational leaders.

At the heart of this legacy is the creation of an internship program designed to prepare the next generation of theatrical designers, promoters, and organizational leaders. With only eight staff members, much of the work of running a theatre is more than the team can accomplish alone. This additional work is often sporadic or seasonal — the kind of tasks that don’t justify permanent staff positions, but are ideal for interns eager to learn and contribute. By offering these opportunities, Hickory Community Theatre will not only strengthen its operations but also provide a bridge to future careers in the arts and beyond. The program creates meaningful experiences for students while giving our community the benefit of a stronger, more resilient theatre.

This is why we need your help, because we want to do more than provide our interns with the opportunity to learn new things and practice their craft, we want to fairly compensate them for their work. It's not just the fair thing to do. Compensated internships attract more candidates and that offers a greater pool of talent to choose from. It is also best practice to pay interns, because unpaid internships can lead to legal complications depending on the nature, and volume, of the work.

There are several different levels of support. Please choose whichever best suits your needs.

With your gift, you are making an immediate difference on our stage today and Crafting a Legacy for the future of live theatre in your community.
