In politics, a lot can happen in 24 hours. For seven women scrambling behind the scenes to save the President from himself, a day will be the difference between political stability and global crisis.
POTUS plays in the Firemen’s Kitchen at HCT from October 21st through November 4th.
Making her debut on the Hickory Community Theatre stage as Stephanie, the President's put-upon personal secretary, is the multi-faceted Rachael Morris.
A resident of Denver, NC, Morris is a creative and culinary artist whose work has been enjoyed by the public on many stages. She is currently the set design and construction supervisor for The Green Room Community Theatre. She is also a Cake Artist for Denver-based Three Tiers For Cake, whose customized confections have appeared on multiple competitive baking programs. Morris' other passions include painting, sculpting, sewing, pyrography, and her family.
In addition to her set design work, Morris has appeared on stage at The Green Room Community Theatre in THE LITTLE MERMAID, 9 TO 5, HELLO, DOLLY!, WILLY WONKA and MAMA MIA! She most recently appeared in DISASTER! for the Lincolnton Theatre Guild.
For Morris, who appreciates "all of the great shows" put on by HCT, auditioning for POTUS was a treat too tasty to pass up. "I do love crazy physical comedy. It's hilarious, and as a raging feminist it was a perfect it."
Performances of POTUS are Fridays and Saturdays, October 21st through November 4th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, October 22nd and 29th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, November 2nd at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
POTUS is rated R for strong language and adult situations. Consider yourself warned. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
POTUS is produced in association with Dad's Garage. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
