"No way. If we're breaking ****, I'm staying.”

Deep in the heart of Texas, a foul-mouthed and demonic (Or is that redundant?) sock puppet is about to unleash holy heck on the unsuspecting volunteers of a church puppet ministry. Among those volunteers is sullen teen Timothy, who proves to have plenty of his own fiendish feelings to let loose.

The Tony-nominated HAND TO GOD plays in the Firemen's Kitchen at Hickory Community Theatre from October 23 through October 31.

Making his Hickory Community Theatre debut as the troubled Timothy in this production is Kalib Cormican.

A resident of Nebo, North Carolina, Cormican is a Substitute Teacher for McDowell Country Schools who enjoys hanging out with friends, thrifting, trying new food, playing Pokémon and Minecraft, and hiking. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama, with a minor in Interdisciplinary Art and Social Practice, from UNC-Greensboro.

"I love dark comedy and puppets," says Cormican, who clearly was destined to find himself in this current HCT production. "I like how vulnerable and unfiltered Timothy is." Cormican is appreciative of the "bold and fun" productions done by Hickory Community Theatre, and of the cast and crew for accommodating his status as "the actor most likely to have a snack mid-rehearsal."

Just beware of Tyrone, Kalib. We hear his bite is worse than his bark.

Performances of HAND TO GOD are Fridays and Saturdays, October 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 7:30pm; Sunday, October 25 at 2:30pm; and Thursday, October 29 at 7:30pm.

This production is recommended for audiences ages 18 and up. It contains VERY adult language and inappropriate situations, and evil puppets doing naughty puppet things. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for youth and students 18 and under. Tickets are available at hickorytheatre.org or by calling 828‑328‑2283.

Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives sustaining support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Season 78 support is provided by the City of Hickory, A Cleaner World, David and Maria WIlliams, Shurtape Technologies, and Acuña & Acuña Dentistry.
