Solo Artists: Reed Williams is Shreddy Eddy in AIRNESS

airness noun : a state of being in which an air guitarist transcends the moment and medium to achieve pure artistic expression

Kickstart your music-loving heart with Hickory Community Theatre's production of Chelsea Marcantel’s AIRNESS. This love letter to the world of competitive air guitar shreds up the Firemen's Kitchen from May 10th through May 18th.

Returning to Hickory Community Theatre in AIRNESS, and ready to rock as Shreddy Eddy, is Reed Williams.

A Hickory resident, Williams holds a Masters Degree in Film Studies from the University of California - Los Angeles, and is a currently a copywriter for OpenText. He previously appeared at HCT as Dicken in THE SECRET GARDEN. Other non-HCT credits include LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and FACING EAST. For Williams, his appearance in AIRNESS is both a creative homecoming and a family affair. "It's where I fell in love with acting," says Williams of his return to HCT. What's more, it's a chance to perform (and compete?) with brother Cleve Williams, who also appears in the show. Rock on, siblings! Rock on.

Performances of AIRNESS are Fridays and Saturdays, May 3rd through May 18th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, May 5th and May 12th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

AIRNESS is rated R. Under 17 requires adult guardian.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
