Emma Lee grew up in West Virginia, went to college in Texas (where she met and married her husband, Paul David), lived in Alabama, then back to Texas before coming to North Carolina over 25 years ago. Prior to becoming the Costume Designer at Hickory Community Theatre 10 years ago, she was a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, Jimmy and Mikey. Jimmy is currently a student at East Tennessee State University after serving in the US Marines for 5 years. He married LexiPlantone last September. Mikey continues to serve in the US Air Force. He and his wife, Ashleigh, made her a grandmother last year with the arrival of Atlas James. Paul David is a retired pastor and retired from the US Air Force Reserves after serving 22 years. Emma Lee and Paul David share a love of theatre and have been honored to share the stage several times over the past nine years. In 2010 Emma Lee took her first steps into the world of community theatre. From 2010 to 2015, she was mainly an actor who dabbled in costuming. She quickly discovered she had a talent for design and really enjoyed working behind the scenes as well. She claims she is channeling both her mother and maternal grandmother in her sewing and design skills. She has designed at other theatres in the area including the HUB and Newton Performing Arts Center. She is thrilled to have found her creative outlet here at Hickory Community Theatre.
