Hickory Community Theatre's 76th season rolls on with LIZZIE, the fierce and unforgettable new rock musical based on one of America's most infamous murders.
The sold-out production, which continues its run through May 25th in the Firemen's Kitchen at HCT, is the sensational directorial debut of multi-faceted Kay Award winner Bethany Spears.
"After serving as stage manager and assistant director, I’m thrilled to step into the director’s chair for such a phenomenal show,” says Spears, who most recently appeared on stage at HCT as Violet Beauregard in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
Spears previously rocked out in the Firemen's Kitchen as The Nina in AIRNESS. HCT audiences will also know Spears from roles in RIDE THE CYCLONE, ROCK OF AGES and THE COLOR PURPLE, for which she earned a Kay Award for Outstanding Featured Female Performer. Behind the scenes, Spears has been a stage manager for such HCT productions as PUFFS, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, CADILLAC CREW, POTUS and THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS, as well as an assistant director (and stage manager) for EATING BLACKBERRIES.
