Big Hair - Huge Success

It's no secret that the HCT production of HAIRSPRAY was a smash hit. It was wonderful to be able to open the 77th season in such a strong way. There were some special things that may have missed some patrons attention.

To coincide with the show, the HCT Board's audience development committee gathered or created a wide variety of props for patrons to play with while taking pictures on the red carpet. There were foam wigs, stick cutouts and other assorted items to create delightful memories.

There were also two local hair stylists - Sharon Pope from Mane Attraction in Conover, and Michelle Witherspoon from Xquisite in Hickory, who crafted 60s vintage styles. The committee had patrons vote on their favorite styles. It was a close race but the ultimate winner was Michelle Witherspoon, and her model Terri Allen. We're very grateful to these talented women and for all of the patrons who took part in the fun. And an extra special shout to Mary Jo Morgan, leader of the audience development committee, and to all of the committee members who assisted her with pulling this off. A special shout-out goes to David Williams, a stalwart volunteer who made opening night extra exciting by bringing over his two vintage 1960s Corvettes.
