Chaperone Confidential: Meet Ensemble member Paulie Sales

When a reclusive theatre superfan plays his favorite cast album, musical mayhem ensues. The winner of five Tony Awards, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT December 9th-17th.

Making a sparkling debut on the HCT stage for this production is Ensemble member Paulie Sales.

A lifelong resident of Catawba County, Sales earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from UNC Charlotte, and currently works as a Processing Assistant for Partners Health Management. Though she has put her clogging days behind her, Sales generated plenty of steps as part of a youth voter registration campaign for the 2020 election.

Though this is Sales' first performance at HCT, many will already be familiar with her work at The Green Room Community Theatre, where she has been involved in such productions as HELLO, DOLLY!, MAMMA MIA!, WILLY WONKA, 9 TO 5, BIG RIVER, BOEING-BOEING, and GUYS & DOLLS. A fan of Ensemble work ("Ensemble is always a good time."), the chance to perform alongside friends was a big factor in Sales auditioning for and joining THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. With her first Hickory Community Theatre on its way, Sales is just as grateful for the "welcoming and inclusive environment" she's now part of at HCT.

Performances of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE are Fridays and Saturdays, December 9th through 17th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, December 11th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, December 15th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is rated PG.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is produced in association with Shurtape. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 74th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Frye Regional Medical Center. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
