Dance With Destiny: Meet A CHORUS LINE Pit Singer Bethany Spears

Part dance audition, part personal confession. A CHORUS LINE has been razzle-dazzling audiences with its groundbreaking fusion of choreography and character since the show debuted on Broadway in 1976.

Featuring unforgettable music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, HCT is proud to present A CHOURS LINE. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and nine Tony Awards, A CHORUS LINE finishes its sensational run on the Pamela Livingstone Stage at HCT September 10 — 12.

Returning to HCT in this production as a member of the Pit Chorus, is Kay Award winner Bethany Spears.

Spears, a longtime Hickory area resident, holds an Associate in Arts degree from Catawba Valley Community College, and currently works as a Medical Assistant. In her free time, Spears enjoys reading, collecting stickers, baking, and snuggling with her cats Mickey and Rosie.

Spears most recently appeared at HCT in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Other on-stage HCT credits include AIRNESS, RIDE THE CYCLONE, ROCK OF AGES, and THE COLOR PURPLE, for which she won a Kay Award for Outstanding Featured Female Performer. In addition to her many invaluable contributions as a stage manager and crew member, Spears directed HCT's production of LIZZIE, which won the Pamela Livingstone Award for Best Ensemble, and last season's opener, HAIRSPRAY. Other area performances include LIGHT SHINING IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE for Lime Garage Productions, DISASTER! at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' at The Green Room Community Theatre, as well as BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE WIZARD OF OZ at Creative Arts Show Time.

Performances of A CHORUS LINE are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 10th through 12th at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for youth and students. The production is recommended for ages 13 and up. Tickets are available at hickorytheatre.org or by calling 828‑328‑2283.

A CHORUS LINE is produced in association with Catawba Valley Health System. Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives sustaining support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
