“Who the bloody hell is that? Right when we're having a heart to heart.”
HANGMEN runs November 7–22 in the Firemen’s Kitchen.
Emma Lee Kurts brings heart, humor, and a bit of sass to the role of Alice, Harry Wade’s wife and the grounding force in HANGMEN’s world of swagger and bravado. A Hickory resident for 28 years, Emma Lee is a self-described “chaos coordinator” at Kurts Family Farmstead, where she and her husband Paul David have built a lively family life full of creativity and laughter.
Her stage credits include Les Misérables (Best Ensemble Kay Award, Hickory Community Theatre), Ragtime (Best Ensemble Kay Award, Hickory Community Theatre), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Best Ensemble Kay Award, Hickory Community Theatre), and Defiance (Best Supporting Actress, Foothills Performing Arts).
“I love the Firemen’s Kitchen shows,” Emma Lee says. “They’re always a bit edgy — and there aren’t a lot of roles for women my age, so I’m honored to portray Alice.”
Performances of HANGMEN are November 7-22; Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:30pm and Thursday, November 20 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students. The $12 price is also valid for youth, but this show is considered suitable for ages 18 and up. CLICK HERE to purchase tickets online or call the box office at 828-328-2283. Hickory Community Theatre is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives sustaining support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The 77th season is supported by The City of Hickory, A Cleaner World, Shurtape Technologies, Acuna & Acuna Dentistry and BelleAge.
