From album to stage to screen, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has enraptured audiences with its unique musical take on the life, works, and death of Jesus.

Now, for your Lent-ertainment, the iconic rock opera finishes its run in the Jeffers Theatre at Hickory Community Theatre this weekend, April 17th through April 19th.

Returning to the Pamela Livingstone Stage in this production, as best friend-turned-betrayer Judas Iscariot, is Joey Nuhfer. Nuhfer holds a Computer Science degree from Appalachian State University and works as an IT Software Engineer for Duke Energy.

While frequently found in the orchestra pit as a music director for such productions as as ROCK OF AGES, KINKY BOOTS, and RIDE THE CYCLONE, Nuhfer is no stranger to the HCT stage. He made his 2020 HCT debut in the Firemen's Kitchen in THE JUNGLE FUN ROOM, earning a Kay Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer. He then appeared in SOMETHING ROTTEN, as well as a bass-thumping cameo appearance as Virgil the Rat in RIDE THE CYCLONE.

Performances of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 17th through April 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is rated PG-13. Some material may not be appropriate for children under 13.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is produced in association with MOReON Productions. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
