From album to stage to screen, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has enraptured audiences with its unique musical take on the life, works, and death of Jesus.

Now, for your Lent-ertainment, the iconic rock opera finishes its run at HCT this weekend, April 17th through April 19th.

Taking a well-deserved break from his ongoing search for the lost city of El Dorado, Kay Award winner Branden Nuhfer returns to the Jeffers Theatre as an Ensemble member in this production.

A lifelong resident of Denver, NC, and teller at People's Bank, Nuhfer most recently appeared at HCT as Paul in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. He has also appeared at HCT in such productions as THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, SOMETHING ROTTEN (for which he won a Kay Award for Outstanding Lead Male), and HAIR (for which he received a Kay Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer). Other area credits include DISASTER! at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, as well as HELLO, DOLLY! and THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Green Room Community Theatre.

Nuhfer is delighted to be back on the HCT stage with friends and his brother Joey, who he last (briefly) shared the stage with in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. No word yet on whether the two brothers will be teaming up on that quest for El Dorado.

Performances of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 17th through April 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is rated PG-13. Some material may not be appropriate for children under 13.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is produced in association with MOReON Productions. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
