A scrumdiddlyumptious new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic novel, featuring original music and songs from the 1971 film, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT November 29th through December 14th.
Returning to the Jeffers as hardworking, heartwarming Mrs. Bucket is multi-Kay Award winner Ashlen Klutz.
A Florida transplant who calls Hickory home, Klutz holds an Associate in Fine Arts-Music degree from Caldwell Community College, is an International Thespian Society member, and enjoys gaming, traveling, and pole fitness.
A self-employed vocal coach and full-time booster of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY director Ethan Fite, Klutz last appeared on the Pamela Livingstone Stage as "Jane Doe" in RIDE THE CYCLONE, for which she received a Kay Award for Outstanding Supporting Performer in a Musical. Other HCT credits include ANASTASIA and MACBETH—for which she won a Kay Award for Outstanding Supporting Performer in a Play—as well as ROCK OF AGES and THE PIRATE QUEEN. Recent area credits include THE ADDAMS FAMILY for Lenoir-Rhyne Playmakers, and FOOTLOOSE for Theatre Statesville.
And while Klutz considers herself "the actor most likely to get a concussion," we hope that she will never forget the "beautiful song" that she cherishes in her current role.
Performances of CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY are Fridays and Saturdays, November 29th through December 14th at 7:30PM; Sundays, December 1st and 8th at 2:30PM, and, Thursday, December 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
