"You cannot be too careful

When it comes to sharing your life"

Stranded in their lives as small town waitresses, pie artiste Jenna and her coworkers can only dream of the lives and loves they really want. But when an area baking contest, and surprising new romantic interest, give Jenna the chance to start over, what follows is a tasty tale of dreams followed to the fullest.

Based on the beloved film, the Broadway hit musical WAITRESS is cooking up an unforgettable experience at Hickory Community Theatre, June 6th—21st.

Making her Hickory Community Theatre debut in this production as Dawn, the control-conscious coworker who steps outside her comfort zone to find love, is Ally Teeples.

Originally hailing from Huntington Beach, California, Teeples now resides in Charlotte and works as a Financial Operations Coordinator for Give Lively. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion Merchandising from California State University-Long Beach, and has run her own princess character company for ten years. (Her fave princess to perform is Belle. Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour!) When not delighting audiences with her performing, Teeples enjoys exploring all kinds of creative endeavors, from painting to sewing to whatever new pursuit calls to her.

Though she considers herself "the actor least likely to write down her blocking" (Sorry, Eric.), Teeples has already shown that she can command the stage. Among her recent performing credits are Nadine in THE WILD PARTY for Queen City Concerts, and Natalie in NEXT TO NORMAL for Fort Mill Community Playhouse, for which Teeples earned a Metrolina Theatre Association Award for Best Supporting Actress.

"I loved the movie," Teeples says of the inspiration for the WAITRESS musical, "and this is a great adaptation. I wish more musicals were true to the source material like this one is. I love the music, and I'm a big fan of Sara Bareilles."

Teeples is equally appreciative of her role—and experience—in this production. "Dawn doesn't like anything that gets in the way of her daily routine, and what she has control over. That resonates with me. And this cast is wonderful. Every single person is warm, kind, and talented."

Performances of WAITRESS are Fridays and Saturdays, June 6th through June 21st at 7:30 PM; Sundays, June 8th and 15th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, June 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

WAITRESS is rated PG-13. Some material may not be suitable for children under 13.

WAITRESS is produced in association with Alex Lee, Inc. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives Sustaining Support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
