Slice Of Life: Cornelia "CeCe" Cooper plays Becky in WAITRESS

“We're all just looking for a little less crazy”

Trapped in a dead-end job and an abusive marriage, small town waitress Jenna finds escape in making crowd-pleasing pies. But when Jenna enters to win a high-profile baking contest, she'll need all the support her straight-talking coworkers can serve up.

Based on the beloved film, the Broadway musical sensation WAITRESS is cooking up an unforgettable experience at Hickory Community Theatre, June 6th through June 21st.

Returning to the Jeffers Theatre in this irresistible production, as Jenna's no-nonsense coworker Becky, is Cornelia "CC" Cooper.

A Statesville resident, Cooper works as a Music Therapist Associate at Hopeway. She holds an Associates in Arts degree, and an Associates in Fine Arts Degree from Catawba Valley Community College, a Bachelor's in Music degree from Queens University of Charlotte, and is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Cooper also served for four years in the United States Army, and enjoys singing, dancing, cooking, and traveling in her spare time.

Cooper last appeared at Hickory Community Theatre in the 2017 productions of RENT and SISTER ACT. She appeared in the area most recently in ONCE ON THIS ISLAND at the Green Room Community Theatre, and has also been entertaining audiences with Opera Carolina in such productions as LA BOHÉME, CARMEN, TURANDOT, MADAME BUTTERFLY, and PORGY AND BESS.

"It's always been a dream to be part of this show," says Cooper. "The storylines are relatable ones, that can touch your heart, while also giving humorous moments. Becky is a woman that speaks her mind but also isn't ashamed to show that she's only human as well."

Performances of WAITRESS are Fridays and Saturdays, June 6th through June 21st at 7:30 PM; Sundays, June 8th and 15th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, June 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.
