Jenna is a small town waitress and expert pie maker stuck in a broken marriage. But when a baking contest, and an unexpected romantic interest, promise a new start for her and her unborn child, Jenna discovers the secret ingredient—courage—she needs to change her life.

The Tony-nominated hit WAITRESS is serving up a tasty take of hope in its extended run at HCT through June 28th.

Making her Hickory Community Theatre debut in this production is Ensemble member Ashley Robinson.

A resident of Lincolnton and graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Robinson is a musician and vocal performer whose previous area credits include LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and AIDA for Lincolnton Drama Club, THE COLOR PURPLE for Lincolnton Theatre Guild, and BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL for the Green Room Community Theatre.

"The music is just phenomenal," says Robinson of WAITRESS, "not to mention the storyline. There's a lot of depth and beauty to this show." Robinson is equally elated for this, her first show at HCT. "From the moment you step into the building you feel like you are in a place of storytelling. I love being an accent to the show. Being a part of the ensemble is like sprinkles on time (or should I say the cherry on top)."

Three additional performances of WAITRESS are happening this weekend, June 26-28 (Thu, Fri and Sat,) at 7:30 PM. THESE ARE THE FINAL PERFORMANCES. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

WAITRESS is rated PG-13. Some material may not be suitable for children under 13.

WAITRESS is produced in association with Alex Lee, Inc. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives Sustaining Support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
