"I didn't know, but now I see

Sometimes what is, is meant to be"

Jenna is a small town waitress and pie maker stuck in a broken marriage. But when a baking contest, and a secret new love interest, promise a fresh start for her and her unborn child, Jenna discovers the courage she needs to change her life.

The Tony-nominated hit WAITRESS is serving up a tasty tale of hope in its extended run at HCT through June 28th.

Making her Hickory Community Theatre in this production is Ensemble member Laura Parker.

A Hickory resident and student at Catawba Valley Community College, Parker enjoys creative writing, as well as playing video games and Dungeons & Dragons in her free time. Parker's previous area credits include SOMETHING ROTTEN! at Old Colony Players, and HONKY TONK HISSY FIT at the Green Room Community Theatre. As the self-described "actor most likely to cry during 'She Used To Be Mine'", Parker is thrilled and humbled to be part of this production of WAITRESS. "Being a member of the ensemble is a privilege and a treat. It gives me the opportunity to create life in the show and add to it's beautiful music. WAITRESS has been near and dear to my ear since I first listened to the soundtrack back in 2015. As I've gotten older and gained more life experience, my appreciation for its story and characters has only grown."

Three additional performances of WAITRESS are happening this weekend, June 26-28 (Thu, Fri and Sat,) at 7:30 PM. THESE ARE THE FINAL PERFORMANCES. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

WAITRESS is rated PG-13. Some material may not be suitable for children under 13.

WAITRESS is produced in association with Alex Lee, Inc. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives Sustaining Support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
