This Magic Moment: Laura Parker plays Cinderella in INTO THE WOODS

"But then what if he knew

Who I am when I know

That I'm not what he thinks

That he wants?

Or, then, what if I am?"

We all know the story of Cinderella finding her prince. But what if the fairy tale life that follows isn't so charming after all? A dark and moving meditation on magical misadventures, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony-winning musical INTO THE WOODS, plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT June 5th through June 20th.

Third time's a charm for Laura Parker, who appears in this production as the unexepctedly put-upon princess Cinderella. A student at Catawba Valley Community College, Parker made her Hickory Community Theatre debut in last season's hit production of WAITRESS. She next helped serve up laughs—while avoiding the dreaded dysentery—in THE TRAIL TO OREGON! She enjoys creative writing, singing, playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, and being the actor who repeats a joke over and over (and over) until she elicits a "pity laugh" from her castmates.

"Everyone has been so warm and welcoming. I've met such kind souls who are very clearly passionate about what they contribute here. Everybody works so hard to create the best show they can, and that's just been so inspiring for me."

Performances of INTO THE WOODS are Fridays and Saturdays, June 5th through June 20th at 7:30pm; Sundays, June 7th and June 14th at 2:30pm; and Thursday, June 18th at 7:30pm.
