Ties That Bind: Katie Stone plays Barbara in BARBECUE

Tough love and a healthy serving of family dysfunction are on the menu in Robert O'Hara's raucous comedy BARBECUE, which concludes its run in the Firemen's Kitchen at HCT this weekend, March 7th-9th.

Returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage, and working hard to be the star of your Kay ballot, is Katie Stone as Barbara.

Stone holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Cleveland Community College. When not managing, making Tik Tok videos for, and plotting the expansion of, her Imperial Mercantile retail juggernaut in Kings Mountain, Stone can be found pursuing passions in photography, filmmaking, and Reneé Rapp fandom.  She is also plays a mean mouth trumpet, upon request.

Stone most recently wowed Firemen's Kitchen audiences with her direction of POTUS. Prior to that she appeared as Nan in EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR, an Ensemble member in ROCK OF AGES, Jen in THE CAKE, and Megan in PUFFS. Other area credits include five seasons acting in LIBERTY MOUNTAIN–THE REVOLUTIONARY DRAMA, and a now-legendary performance as The Farmer's Granddaughter in The Green Room Community Theatre/Green Bean Players production of THE ENORMOUS TURNIP.

As for what drew...nudged? shoved?...her to audition for BARBECUE, Stone credits HCT's Ethan Fite: "He made me do it." Stone is delighted to be playing a character that she describes as "going to the rails," and remains laser-focused on earning her first Kay Award. Hint hint.

All remaining performances of BARBECUE are currently SOLD OUT. If you would like to be placed on a wait list in the rare event that tickets become available, please contact the Hickory Community Theatre by phone at 828-328-2283. Please be aware that you may be notified at the last minute. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

BARBECUE is rated R for adult language and mature subject matter.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
