In the wake of a horrific roller coaster accident, six teens trapped in limbo are challenged to take account of themselves so that one may return to the land of the living. Darkly funny and subversively poignant, the Off-Broadway cult musical hit RIDE THE CYCLONE plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from January 19th through February 10th.
She's a mover, a shaker, and a headline maker. She is Kay Award winner Hannah Nuhfer, returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage in this production as unapologetic overachiever Ocean O'Connell Rosenberg.
Nuhfer, a teacher at North Lincoln High School (Go, Knights!), received her degree in English Secondary Education & Theatre from Appalachian State University. She runs the Drama Club and Chamber Choir at North Lincoln HS and has directed Blumey Award-winning productions of ANASTASIA and INTO THE WOODS. When not teaching or performing, Nuhfer likes to pour her passion into cooking pursuits.
Nuhfer most recently appeared at Hickory Community Theatre as Dusty in POTUS. Prior to that, she debuted at HCT as Kitty in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, for which she received a Kay Award for Outstanding Featured Performer. She has been awarded for her performances in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and ROCK OF AGES at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, where she recently directed DISASTER! Nuhfer has also performed in 9 TO 5 and MAMMA MIA!, and directed a MTA-nominated production of HELLO, DOLLY!, at The Green Room Community Theatre.
"I've been obsessed with this musical for YEARS," says Nuhfer of RIDE THE CYCLONE, which she sees as another example of HCT's willingness to do "new and exciting shows."
