Twisted Tales: Jared Wachsmuth is Mischa Bachinski in RIDE THE CYCLONE

When six members of the St. Cassian Chamber Choir meet a tragic demise while riding a roller coaster, they find themselves in limbo literally singing for a second chance at life. Buckle up for the supernatural musical sensation RIDE THE CYCLONE, playing in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from January 26th through February 10th.

Returning to the HCT stage to be #1 in your heart, is "real KA-CHING!" and Kay Award-winning Jared Wachsmuth as Mischa Bachinski.

A Claremont resident, graduate of Bunker Hill High School (Go, Bears!), and self-described "menace to society," Wachsmuth made his HCT debut in 2018's BRIGHT STAR, for which he won an Outstanding Newcomer Kay Award. He was also appeared in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, EVITA, PUFFS, and SOMETHING ROTTEN, for which he won an Outstanding Featured Male Kay Award. Other recent credits include DISASTER! at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Little Theatre of Gastonia, HELLO, DOLLY! and MAMMA MIA! at The Green Room Community Theatre, and NEXT TO NORMAL at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Wachsmuth continues to appreciate doing shows amidst the Jeffers classical theatre set-up. And while he is also thrilled to be using auto-tune in this production of RIDE THE CYCLONE, he's most stoked to be starring opposite best bud (though "lesser JW") Justin Wilson for a seventh show.

Performances of RIDE THE CYCLONE are Fridays and Saturdays, January 26th through February 10th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, January 28th and February 4th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, February 8th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

RIDE THE CYCLONE is presented without intermission. It is rated R for mature subject matter.

RIDE THE CYCLONE is produced in association with Sandra Clay and George Clay III. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
