From Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegría Hudes comes IN THE HEIGHTS, a moving musical journey that takes place over three days in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Bursting with song and dance, and alive with the pulse of those who dare to dream, the Tony Award-winning musical plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from June 7th through June 29th.
Returning to the Pamela Livingstone Stage at the Jeffers Theatre as Daniela, the salon owner skilled in both personal style and neighborhood gossip, is Dior Scott.
A Philadelphia native who now calls Granite Falls home, Scott is a self-employed student working on a Fine Arts degree at Catawba Valley Community College. A member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Student Leadership Academy, Scott also enjoys painting, dancing and filmmaking.
Scott's previous appearances at HCT include THE CAKE, MEMPHIS, A RAISIN IN THE SUN, and DREAMGIRLS. Other area credits include CABARET (Theatre Statesville)—for which Scott received a Metrolina Theatre Association nomination— THE GLORIOUS WORLD OF CROWNS, KINKS AND CURLS (Three Bone Theatre), THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL (Black Star Theatre) and THE LITTLE MERMAID (The Green Room Community Theatre). Scott has also appeared onstage at Carnegie Hall in a performance of Mozart's Requiem, and describes herself as "the actor most likely to collaborate with Beyoncé."
Scott is pleased to back in the creative environment at HCT, and for a production and character that are close to her heart. "My favorite show," Scott says of IN THE HEIGHTS. "Daniela is Number 6 in my Top Ten dream roles."
Performances of IN THE HEIGHTS are Fridays and Saturdays, June 14th through June 29th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, June 16th and June 23rd at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, June 27th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
