Filled with fairy tale romance and a fearless young woman's quest for truth, the epic Broadway musical ANASTASIA plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from December 1st through December 16th.
Returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage for this majestic musical adventure is Ensemble member and Kay Award winner Ashlen M. Cheers.
Hailing from Green Cove Springs, Florida, Cheers moved to the Hickory area seven years ago to be with family and focus on her career and creative interests. She holds an Associate in Fine Arts-Music degree from Caldwell Community College and currently works as an Apprentice Funeral Director for Evans Funeral Service, and as a vocal coach for Hickory Music Factory. She is a member of the International Thespian Society, and enjoys gaming, pole exercise, and playing music on piano, guitar and mandolin.
Cheers most recently appeared at Hickory Community Theatre as Uncle Brierly/Sir Guy in the holiday production of TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Prior to that she thrilled audiences as Third Witch in MACBETH—for which she won a Kay Award for Outstanding Supporting Performer in a Play. She also appeared as an Ensemble member in ROCK OF AGES and THE PIRATE QUEEN, and provided supporting vocal tracks for A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. Cheers also performed in CHICAGO at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
"The movie was my go to as a kid," says Cheers of the 1997 animated film ANASTASIA. "It's still my feel good movie as an adult." She is delighted to be back among friends, old and new, in this HCT production of ANASTASIA. "I just like to perform, regardless of role."
Performances of ANASTASIA are Fridays and Saturdays, December 1st through December 16th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, December 3rd and 10th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, December 14th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
ANASTASIA is rated G. All audiences admitted.
