Charlie Bucket and his family live in poverty. But their fortunes change for the fantastical when a coveted Golden Ticket gets Charlie inside the factory of candy inventor Willy Wonka. A new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s masterpiece, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is a sweet and salty fable of about doing what's right with life's opportunities. It plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT December 6th through December 14th.
Returning to the Pamela Livingstone Stage as quick-witted field reporter Cherry Sundae, as well as being one of this show's featured dancers, is Kristy Lee.
A Conover resident for over twenty years, Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Mars Hill University. She currently works as a Fill Technician for Exela Pharma, and enjoys writing, drawing, and playing instruments in her free time. Lee made her Hickory Community Theatre debut in ANASTASIA. She next performed as an Ensemble member in IN THE HEIGHTS, for which she was also a dance captain.
"I have iconic childhood memories of watching both of the films," says Lee, who is delighted to be playing such a kooky character in this production, and appreciated of the variety of shows produced by HCT.
Performances of CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY are Fridays and Saturdays, December 6th through December 14th at 7:30PM; Sunday, December 8th at 2:30PM, and, Thursday, December 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
