Rocking The Stage: Daniel Lung is Lonny

An electrifying tribute to the iconic music of the 1980s, the Tony-nominated ROCK OF AGES plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT through February 4th.

Making their HCT debut as Lonny, the show's unflappable rock 'n' roll narrator, is Daniel Lung.

A PK (Preacher's Kid) who has moved around over the years, Lung has been holding steady in Hickory for the past three years. Lung graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Dance Education, and has taught at Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts and Pioneer Springs Community School.

Lung has been busy as a performer and choreographer. Acting credits include THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at Old Colony Players (OCP), JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT at The Green Room Community Theatre, and SORDID LIVES and CHRISTMAS IN OZ at the Newton Performing Arts Center. Choreography credits include THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (OCP), and PIPPI LONGSTOCKING and THE SOUND OF MUSIC (The Flowertown Players), for which Lung received a Theatre Charleston Award for Best Choreography.

Though auditioning for ROCK OF AGES was a spur of the moment decision, Lung has reveled in the character of Lonny and the opportunity it brings "to break the fourth wall and interact with the audience."

All performances of ROCK OF AGES this weekend are sold out.

Visit hickorytheatre.org, or call 828-328-2283, for more information. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

ROCK OF AGES is rated R for strong language and adult situations.

ROCK OF AGES is produced in association with Lowes Foods, Alex Lee and MDI. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 74th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Frye Regional Medical Center. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
