Rocking The Stage: Iris Dewitt is Justice

A rock 'n' roll romance about a small-town girl, a city boy, and the power of dreams, the Broadway hit ROCK OF AGES plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT through February 4th.

Making another commanding turn on the HCT stage is Iris Dewitt as Justice.

Originally hailing from Arizona, Dewitt is a graduate of the Charlotte School of Law and a first degree black belt in taekwondo. When not practicing law or pursuing acting, Dewitt enjoys cooking and volunteering with her Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters.

Dewitt most recently appeared at Hickory Community Theatre as Shug Avery in THE COLOR PURPLE. Other favorite credits include EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL at Actor's Theatre of Charlotte, GODSPELL at Matthews Playhouse, BYE BYE BIRDIE at Abbey Players, and THE WEDDING SINGER and CHESS at Central Piedmont Theatre. Dewitt has received two Broadway World Awards this year: Best Performer in a Play for her portrayal of Lola in GHOSTS Of BOGOTA (Actor's Theatre of Charlotte); and, Best Performer in a Musical for her portrayal of Deloris Van Cartier in SISTER ACT (Matthews Playhouse).

All performances of ROCK OF AGES this weekend are sold out.

Visit hickorytheatre.org, or call 828-328-2283, for more information. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

ROCK OF AGES is rated R for strong language and adult situations.

ROCK OF AGES is produced in association with Lowes Foods, Alex Lee and MDI. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 74th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Frye Regional Medical Center. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
