Ties That Bind: Tiffany Christian is Lillie Anne in BARBECUE

Tough love and a healthy serving of family dysfunction are on the menu in Robert O'Hara's raucous comedy BARBECUE, which plays in the Firemen's Kitchen at HCT from March 1st through March 9th.

Returning to HCT in this production as Lillie Anne, the self-righteous sibling on a mission, is Kay Award winner Tiffany Christian.

A 20-year resident of Boone, Christian holds a PhD in Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill, dreams of owning her own restaurant, and is an avid collector of giraffe-related items. Christian is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Christian most recently directed 2022's THE COLOR PURPLE at Hickory Community Theatre, and received a Kay Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in NUNSENSE. Christian has also been active at The Green Room Community Theatre, where she has performed in LAST STOP ON MARKET STREET, as well as directing ONCE ON THIS ISLAND and BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK.

Says Christian of her involvement in BARBECUE:"I missed being on the HCT stage, and I loved the idea of doing something funny with serious undertones. [Lillie Anne] is a lot like me."

Performances of BARBECUE are Fridays and Saturdays, March 1st through March 9th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, March 3rd at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, March 7th at 7:30 PM.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Please note that the performances on March 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 9th are SOLD OUT.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

BARBECUE is rated R for adult language and mature subject matter.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
