Rocking The Stage: Sierra Doyle-Rios is Waitress #1

An electrifying tribute to the iconic music of the 1980s, the Tony-nominated ROCK OF AGES plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from January 27th through February 4th.

Returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage as the wise-cracking Waitress #1 is Sierra Doyle-Rios.

Born in American Canyon, California, Doyle-Rios has lived in the Hickory area for over two decades. Doyle-Rios is currently employed as a seamstress for King Hickory Furniture, and enjoys knitting and gardening in her time away from work and theatre.

Whether under the sea or in the Scottish Highlands, Doyle-Rios has been a stalwart of the area theatre scene. Her work at HCT includes roles in MACBETH, THE PIRATE QUEEN, HAIR, SOMETHING ROTTEN, THE JUNGLE FUN ROOM, LEGALLY BLONDE, CHICAGO, and part of the Kay Award-winning Outstanding Ensemble in RAGTIME. Other area credits include JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at Old Colony Players, THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Green Room Community Theatre, and DRINKING HABITS at Foothills Performing Arts (for which she won a Best Character Actress Willy Award).

Drawn to the iconic music of ROCK OF AGES, Doyle-Rios has especially enjoyed the "fun and slightly silly" spirit of the show and production. She is grateful for the many friendships she's made through Hickory Community Theatre, which she credits for "the majority of her social life" as well as her frequent post-show pilgrimages to the Crescent Moon Cafe.

Performances of ROCK OF AGES are Fridays and Saturdays, January 27th through February 4th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, January 29th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, February 2nd at 7:30 PM.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

ROCK OF AGES is rated R for strong language and adult situations.

ROCK OF AGES is produced in association with Lowes Foods, Alex Lee and MDI. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 74th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Frye Regional Medical Center. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
