Disasterpiece Theatre: Meet THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG'S Kaylyn Hall

The show must go on, with missed lines, a moving corpse, and a collapsing set some of the many humorous hurdles in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG. The Olivier, Drama Desk and Tony Award-winning hit plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT through April 1st.

From a wedding-almost-gone-wrong to a play that does, returning to the HCT stage as ambitious ingenue Sandra/Florence Colleymore is two-time Kay Award winner Kaylyn Hall.

A lifelong resident of Conover, Hall is a Senior/Promise Scholar at Bunker Hill High School (Go, Bears!), as well as a member of the Volleyball Varsity Team and National Beta Club. She previously starred as Janet Van De Graaff in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at HCT, where she also appeared in the Kay Award-winning Ensembles for RAGTIME and LES MISERABLES. She has received two Willy Awards from Foothills Performing Arts, for her work in BEAUTIFUL STAR and THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. She has also received a BroadwayWorld regional award for Best Supporting Performer in a Musical, for her portrayal of Natalie in NEXT TO NORMAL at Theatre Statesville.

"It is such a hilarious script and show," says Hall of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG. "I knew that it would be a fun challenge for me to perform as a character who experiences an actor's nightmare! I also knew that HCT would put on a thrilling production and I wanted to be a part of it!"

Of her character, Hall says:"She is the ingenue and very over-dramatic with all of her scenes! I enjoy getting to act as the character, but also as the actress who is performing this character! The audience gets to see both sides of her."

And whether as cast member or audience member, Hall feels right at home at Hickory Community Theatre. "I always feel welcomed and appreciated when I perform at HCT. I love the atmosphere I experience when a part of shows, but also when I come to watch other productions. It is always a fun night at this beautiful theatre!"

Performances of THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG are Fridays and Saturdays, March 24th through April 1st at 7:30 PM; Sunday, March 26th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, March 30th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG is rated G.
